How to Write Siddhu style Shayari: A Step-by-step Guide

Love him or hate him, but you can’t ignore Navjot Singh Sidhhu (and if you are a Kapil Sharma fan, there’s no escaping his Shayari). Most people wonder how he comes up with so many killer she’rs; but once you know how, it’s a fairly easy process anyone can master. Here’s the simple 5 step process to write Sidhhu style shayari:

  1. Write down the sentence that you want to convey. For example, if you want to thank your friend for the excellent tea he made for you, you can write:
Yaar, teri chai ka jawaab nahi hai.
  2. Take the last 3 words (jawaab nahi hai), figure the most important word in this segment (jawaab), and replace it with other rhyming words to create more segments like hisaab nahi hai, gulaab nahi hai, julaab nahi hai etc.
  3. Take any of these segments and frame a sentence around it. It doesn’t have to be related to the punch line in any way, just make it sound like a universal truth/ ancient wisdom. For example:
Gulshan ka har phool gulaab nahi hai
    This is your line 1.
  4. Repeat step 3 for another of your segments. Like:
Aasmaan ka har sitara maahtaab nahi hai
    This is your line 2.
  5. Now we only have to write line 3. Read in sequence line 1, line 2, …, line 4 couple of times and try to fill in the blank as a qualifier to punch line:
Gulshan ka har phool gulaab nahi hai
Aasmaan ka har sitara maahtaab nahi hai
Peene ko to duniya mein cheezein hain bahut
Magar ae dost, teri chai ka jawaab nahi hai

Khataik!! Your first Sidhhu she’r.

Let’s see another one:
जो बिक जाए चंद सिक्कों में, वो ईमान नहीं होता
किसी का दर्द न समझे, वो इंसान नहीं होता
लोग तो उड़ाते ही रहते हैं सिद्धू का मज़ाक
पर सिद्धू इन बातों से परेशान नहीं होता … ठोको ताली!!

Now it’s time to practice. Write your Sidhhu She’r in the comments below.
